Zi Mu Kou 子母扣, Ming Dynasty Hanfu Button
Zi Mu Kou (Chinese: 子母扣 ; pinyin: zǐ mǔ kòu), is a common accessory in Ming dynasty hanfu.
Zi Mu Kou Styles
1. Zi Mu Kou with lotus pattern
The lotus pattern is inspired by the Lotus Lantern.
The style is relatively rare, the design is new and original.
Zi Mu Kou lotus pattern has a bigger size, suitable for matching with Pifeng.
2. Square Zi Mu Kou
Square Zi Mu Kou, inspired by the classic ice crack pattern, with a square outline, like an ancient hollow window.
There are two sizes, small size is suitable for Shan/Ao with a standing collar, and large size Zi Mu Kou is more suitable for Pifeng or Bijia.
3. Zi Mu Kou with butterfly pattern
The Zi Mu Kou butterfly pattern is more suitable for Heling Shan (合领衫), Pifeng, and Bijia.
4. Zi Mu Kou with animal pattern
Zi Mu Kou with an animal pattern, cute and also very attractive.
5. Jade Zi Mu Kou
Zi Mu Kou’s material is not only metal.
In ancient times, there were many jade buttons. Jade buttons have a fine texture, but they are delicate and especially fragile.
So in ancient times, ordinary people did not dare to use it easily.
Now there is also imitation jade Zi Mu Kou, the appearance and real jade are very similar.
