This is not a wound, she is painting an ancient makeup – Xiehong.

Xiehong (Chinese: 斜红 ; pinyin: xié hóng) is a special facial makeup in ancient China, drawn on either side of a woman’s eye corner.

After the Tang dynasty, the shapes of Xiehong became more diverse. There are linear, patterned, curly, and crescent-shaped.
